White Fused Alumina Blasting Media
Description
White fused alumina blasting media is a non-metallic reusable blasting media based on high-purity aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃). It meets the requirements of DIN EN ISO 11126–7 N/FA-WA/G as well as the occupational safety specifications of DGUV Rule 100–500, Chapter 2.24 “Working with blasting equipment (blasting work)”.
White fused alumina is produced by melting alumina in an electric arc furnace and belongs to the group of electro-corundums. With a Mohs hardness of 9, it is one of the hardest known blasting media – only diamond is harder.
Due to its sharp edges, purity, and lack of iron, white fused alumina is the ideal blasting media for applications with the highest requirements for surface quality, precision, and purity.

Typical Applications
White fused alumina blasting media is suitable for cleaning, deburring, matting, and structuring various surfaces. Thanks to its hardness and chemical purity, it guarantees high efficiency and consistent surface quality – even with repeated use. White fused alumina is the first choice in industries where absolute surface purity is crucial.

Grain Size
The grain size of the blasting media determines the surface structure and material removal. Fine grains produce smooth, matte surfaces, while coarse grains allow for intensive cleaning and roughening.
Tip: For stainless steel and aluminum, finer grains are ideal for achieving smooth, clean surfaces. For heavier removal or thermal coatings, coarser grains are recommended.
Corundum products are available in both metric and FEPA grain sizes. See data sheet.
